I have 8 acres to keep mowed and have never owned a tractor. I am not sure if I should purchase the 790 or 990. The 8 acres have a terrain of level to sloping. One small section with somewhat of a steep spot but typical western PA rolling farmland. 5 ft or 6 ft rotary cutter?

Definitely the 790 MFWD and R4 tires and the 5 ft. rotary cutter. I would suggest a Land Pride RCR 1660 or a 1560 if you can find last year's model that has not sold yet. (might get a good discount) The John Deere LX6 is a good cutter but pricier. Or if you don't need to do much rotary cutter work. A 60" mmm raise up enough to avoid debry will work too. I use a 72" mmm on my 4410 to cut pasture on my place. ....

I would get the largest tractor your pocket book will allow. I have the 790 and really pleased with it ,but a larger unit would of been nicer. The 790 was all my pocket book would allow, but its a great machine and I'm finding out that's it's done all I asked of it so far. ....
